International Women in Engineering Day: Meet Nina-May Miles
To celebrate International Women in Engineering Day, we’re shining a spotlight on Nina-May Miles, one of our Inspection & Testing Engineers at Plant and Safety.
After leaving the RAF around a year ago, Nina brought her skills, professionalism and attention to detail into the engineering sector, where she now plays an important role in helping clients keep their equipment safe, compliant and operating effectively.
From the RAF to Plant and Safety engineering
Ninas background in the RAF provided a strong foundation of discipline, problem-solving and adaptability, qualities that continue to serve her well as she travels across the UK supporting clients in a wide range of industries.

A role with variety every day
One of the things Nina enjoys most about her role is that no two days are ever the same.
“Most days are spent out on the road across Wales, inspecting equipment and meeting great people along the way.”
From construction sites and manufacturing facilities to supermarkets and veterinary practices, her work offers a fascinating insight into businesses that many people never get to see behind the scenes.
Seeing how different industries operate
When asked what she enjoys most about her job, it’s the variety and opportunity to experience different working environments.
“Getting a behind-the-scenes look at everything from construction sites to supermarkets to vets.”
Every inspection brings new challenges, different equipment and the chance to work alongside people from all walks of life, making each day both interesting and rewarding.

The best advice Nina has ever received is simple but powerful:
“Never underestimate the power of a smile.”
Whether meeting clients for the first time or working with colleagues across the business, a positive attitude goes a long way in building strong relationships and creating a great experience for everyone involved.
Life beyond engineering
When she’s not carrying out inspections across the UK, Nina enjoys exploring the outdoors with her camera. A keen bird watcher, she spends many weekends discovering new walking routes and ancient woodlands, combining her love of nature with her incredible photography skills.
