The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has announced a formal Call for Evidence to review two regulations in UK industry:
- LOLER – Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998
- PSSR – Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000
This review is part of the UK government’s Regulatory Action Programme (RAP), which aims to simplify safety legislation while maintaining high standards of compliance and risk management.
According to the HSE, the review seeks to determine whether LOLER and PSSR remain:
- Effective in protecting workers and the public
- Proportionate to the risks involved
- Adaptable to emerging technologies and modern industrial practices
The consultation is open until 11 November 2025, and feedback is being collected via HSE’s Citizen Space platform.
While no changes have been made yet, this is a critical moment to share your experience and prepare for potential updates.
