Paul joined the team in May 2024 as an Inspection and Testing Engineer and has quickly progressed to Regional Engineering Manager for the North and Scotland, a great reflection of both his technical expertise and proactive approach to the role.
From Mechanical Engineering to Inspection & Testing
Paul started his career though a apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering within the oil and gas sector. After building a strong foundation in engineering, he transitioned into inspection and testing around five years ago.
This background has given him a strong technical foundation, which he now applies across a wide range of lifting equipment and machinery.

Progression at Plant and Safety
Since joining Plant and Safety, Paul has demonstrated a clear commitment to developing his skills and supporting the wider team.
By taking on additional work where needed, being proactive and acting on feedback from management, he has gradually taken on more responsibility within the team leading to his recent promotion.
A Varied Role with Real Responsibility
No two days are the same for Paul.
Some days are spent on site carrying out lifting equipment examinations on everything from slings and shackles to large machinery such as piling rigs. Other days involve travelling between multiple sites, ensuring smaller equipment remains compliant and safe to use.
In his new role, Paul plans to focus on supporting and strengthening the team across his region, while also playing a key part in growing the business.

These are essential skills when ensuring equipment remains safe and compliant.

Paul’s goals in his new role are very clear, He stated he wants to “support the team, strengthen operations across the region, and contribute to the continued growth of the business.”
His journey is a great example of how dedication, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn can lead to real progression within the industry.
